A Way Out by Hercule

Last updated: 8 July 2026

The short version

A Way Out does not collect, store, share, sell, or transmit any of your personal data. There are no accounts, no sign-up, no login, no passwords, and nothing tracking you. The app does exactly one thing: block distracting apps behind a physical NFC tag. That's it.

Who we are

A Way Out is a free iPhone app made by Zafer Şiar Konyar (from the maker of Hercule). If you have any questions about this policy, you can reach out at siarkonyar@gmail.com.

No accounts, no data collection

A Way Out has no user accounts and requires no registration of any kind. We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, or any other personal information to use the app. Because there is no account and no server collecting information about you, there is simply no personal data for us to gather.

What stays on your device

The app stores its settings — such as which apps you've chosen to block, the groups you've created, and the NFC tag you've registered as your key — locally on your iPhone. This information lives on your device only. We do not have access to it, it is never uploaded to any server, and it is never shared with us or anyone else.

How blocking works

App blocking is enforced through Apple's Screen Time framework (Family Controls / Managed Settings). The choices you make about which apps to shield are handled on-device by iOS. A Way Out does not see the contents of the apps you block, your usage statistics, or your activity inside those apps.

NFC tags

A Way Out works with any blank NFC tag you already own. When you register a tag, an identifier for that tag is stored locally on your device so the app can recognize it as your key. Tapping the tag is used only to lock or unlock your chosen apps. No location, personal, or usage data is read from or written about you through NFC.

No tracking, ads, or analytics

A Way Out contains no advertising, no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, no marketing trackers, and no "insights" or dashboards that profile your behavior. We do not build a profile of you and we have nothing to sell to advertisers.

Children's privacy

Because A Way Out collects no personal information from anyone, it also collects no personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Since the app's core promise is to collect no data, any future change will be made in that same spirit.
